The pipe must be within
AWWA standards and
verify by measuring the
outside diameter of pipe.
First make sure the
gland is still in the full,
open position and did
not move during
shipping.Cut the pipe
square to length and
remove any fins or burrs.
It is not necessary to
remove factory-made
bevels. Examine and
clean the One Bolt
socket, removing all dirt
and debris.
1. The
gasket can be lubricated without removing it from the socket if the
manufacturers liquid lubricant is used. Wet the entire O-ring
gasket surface inside the socket. Add lubrication to the Lubrication
Ports (see picture above for location) when lubricating gasket in
place.
2. With
the gland still in the full, open position, insert the end of the
non-lubricated pipe into the fitting socket until it contacts the
bottom of the socket. (If there is a problem sliding the pipe into
place, check to make sure the gland is in the full, open position
and the key is spreading the grip ring.)
3.
Using a soft hammer, drive the still bolted gland clockwise until
the bolt ear on the gland is approximately 1 inch from the bolt ear
on the fitting body. (Strike only the bolt. Avoid striking the protective
coating on the fitting.)
